"Hanging in there"

Ok, so I feel like this has gone on long enough. Not to say I am absolutely 'ready', but I have certainly had it with being pregnant. My joints hurt, my fingers, wrists, ankles and knees feel like they are broken. The heartburn still has not ceased, I am as big as a house, absolutely can not get comfortable, lower back and shooting pelvic pains, pee every 20 minutes and am in a constant state of annoyance.
I'm sure once the baby gets here I will have a whole plethora of other things to complain about - but bear with me - and let me vent about my current ailments.
2 weeks until my due date - that makes it 40 weeks pregnant! Who came up with the 9 months of pregnancy. Women are actually pregnant for 10 months! 10! On the bright side, at least I am not an elephant (although I certainly feel like one - with elephantiasis on my ankles) those poor, beautiful pachyderms are pregnant for 2 years!
Next Dr. appt is today. Last week when I went she said I was 1/2 centimeter dilated. Not much, but at least it's progressing.
I am still working and plan on working right up until I go into contractions or my water breaks. I don't want to waste any time sitting around the house.
One co-worker in particular is driving me nuts. Every single day, the same comment: "Oh, you are still pregnant". Um, yes...Caption Obvious of 'No Shit Sherlock', I am.
I also want to slap the people who keep telling me to "hang in there". Thanks, but I really didn't ask for your no-so comforting, lack of good advice, advice.

Thoughts on school -

Why is that this country is so obsessed with a packaged version of success that we have now made our children prisoners of our ideals of what it means to succeed in this world? We prepare bus loads of children to fit into a one-size-fits-all program of learning and not tuning in to the individual spirit. Take the time this summer to tune into your child, to use your mamas intuition to feel what your child loves and thrives doing and give them more of THAT rather than what you think they need to be doing. Our children are a unique spirit put on this earth to do their own unique work. Guide them to this, respecting their life force and help them without dictating your own personal agenda:)

Getting Close...

4 weeks to go!
Almost time for my baby shower :) YEA! it is this Saturday and I am very excited. I would actually be a little more excited if I could breathe. The baby is sitting right up on my rib cage and certainly hasn't 'dropped' yet. Each day is getting harder and harder to move around and do normal things - like go to the bathroom. It's hard to say, but he might go full term. Good for him, hard on me lol.
The river was ok. I mean, how much fun can you expect a 9 mo pregnant lady to really have? I could only take so much sun, being bumped around in the golf cart, etc. At least there was ice cream.
First of all there was the whole Mandy situation. MIL said she would watch her, then plans got changed so I had to scramble and find an alternative. I will leave it at that, but I was LIVID. Thankfully, everything worked out...but I was worried and concerned the ENTIRE weekend - can't really say I was truly able to relax.
The drive out wasn't bad except for the awful cramps I got in my calves. My whole foot was swollen to the size of a watermelon and my sandals were so tight it was surprising that I could get them off. Apparently, I should have been moving my legs around more.
The swelling has gone down, but both feet are still very large. The balls of my feet really hurt to walk on and nothing fits except Gary's size 10.5 sandals (width wise) I feel super sexy - especially at work.
It was a very nice spot that Jessica's uncle has out in Havasu - I respect the fact that he doesn't allow dogs there, so that will probably be the first and the last time that we go.
Mandy just had her 7th birthday on the 28th of May :(
It seems like every other day it sucks to be pregnant. Yesterday was fine, today I am totally over it. I feel tired, cranky, can't breathe, nothing fits, feet are swollen and sore... ehhhhhkkk
It's also month end, so that means today and tomorrow are going to be pretty busy.

Productive Weekend!

What a nice weekend, and another fun one to look forward to this weekend!

We have been receiving the most wonderful letters and cards from all over North America! This baby is already spoiled! Last week I got a cute little package from a friend in NS. It had 2 onesies and a sweet card. One of them said Nova Scotia, Canada on it with the traditional representations of NS - the Scottish/Celtic tartan, lighthouses, lobsters, etc. And the other one said "Give me hugs and no one gets hurt", too cute!

I also received a handmade card from a neighbor next to my dad's house. These people saw me grow up and I make sure to stop by every time I am visiting Nova Scotia. She and her husband are both artists, and I grew up becoming lost in their paintings. It was incredibly thoughtful for them to think of my little growing family and take the time to make me a beautiful card and write a sweet letter!

Check out his website - James Cleveland has painted the coast of Nova Scotia, where he grew up and now lives, for over forty years. His works focus on the villages and work of fisherman, representing the way of life of his fathers and grandfathers going back some five generations. Concurrently, he explores a language of symbolism through his archetypal paintings.

Friday night we were both in the mood for BBQ so we headed over to backwoods BBQ off Main St in Corona. Unfortunately they were closed and we had to find somewhere else. We remembered driving by Radcliffe's Royal Ribs a few times and it looked decent so we decided to check it out.
What a mistake that was! It was the most TERRIBLE food I have ever had - and trust me, I know food. I had to wait forever just to get some damn water! I got the 1/4 ribs plate that came with one side and a salad. The salad was old and wilted and tasted like crap. You could tell it was the the end of a pre-mixed bag of lettuce. The ribs were disgusting, fatty and undercooked. I hope I don't get brain tapeworms from it (comes from undercooked pig) ...

..and the potato salad looked good - until I tried a bite. It tasted sour, like sour cream had gone bad and there was this strange dill flavor and after taste with a bitter tang.

G's plate was worse. His ribs were burnt on the outside and almost bloody on the inside, he also got a chicken breast that was charred to a crisp and it seemed like the cook had dumped an entire container of pre-mixed spice on to it. It was blatantly obvious that it was a frozen chicken breast that they tried to BBQ. There was more burnt char than there was chicken. His beans were clearly Bushes baked beans from a can - they didn't even try to make it seem that they weren't. What a disappointment! On top of that the bill was $50!!!! I was livid. I wanted to say something, but he told me not to. We paid the bill and I was reeling about my terrible dinner all night so I called them to let them know. They said I should have told them at the time. I knew I should have spoken up. The lady on the phone seemed surprised and said that normally their food was really good. I find that VERY hard to believe. Especially after I read the other reviews on Yelp. She said we could come back and they would give us free food to make up for it. NEVER going to happen. I would not eat there again if someone paid me.

Radcliffe's is a Royal Ripoff

G worked Saturday - got up at 3am to start work around 4ish in Downtown LA. I went and met up with J and her mom in Santa Ana/Costa Mesa to go to a design center called Shinoda. That place is AWESOME! It is a wholesale warehouse design center. They have everything, and I mean everything related to decorating. J's mom is a member there and that is the only way we were able to go in and shop. I guess you have to have a special membership. This place was bigger than Costco with rows and aisles full of home décor items, wedding supplies, party and special event decorations, and holiday items from Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas to mention just a few.

J and I picked out some decorations for the baby shower. I am SO excited! It is going to be super cool. We found lobster confetti. LOBSTER CONFETTI! How incredible is that? Picked up some flameless tea lights, fishing net, starfish, table runners and table cloths...I can't wait to see it all put together. It is only 2 weeks away. Wow, time has sure flown by! Almost time for baby!

Sunday was productive as well. G and I got up and cleaned out the whole garage and re-organized everything in there. That space has been bothering me for the longest time and I am thrilled to have it organized and accessible. Put all the bins that we access on one side, all the boxes that are strictly storage together, all holiday decorations together, all the camping/sports equipment together, all G's tools and motorcycle stuff together etc. G did most of the heavy lifting while I delegated. I'm better at begin the boss anyway :)

I did a pre-natal workout at home and G hit the gym. The rest of the day we relaxed and I tried helping him study for his math test on Wednesday. He BBQ'd filet mignon and corn on the cob. Yummmmmmm It made up for the shitty meal we had on Friday - and it was cheaper!

As if I'm not already feeling...

Why is it that my husband decides that NOW is the best time for him to get himself in shape? I mean, can't he wait until I am ready too? Not that I don't want him to be healthy, or feel good about himself, but can I just be selfish for a few more weeks without feeling so gross (weight gain, swollen, water retention, heartburn, general overall uncomfortableness) My body just doesn't want to go anymore. I feel SO GROSS sitting around with nothing to do and would much rather be moving. I went to the gym today to try and walk - even though my feet and ankles look like bricks. Can't tell where the ankles end and the feet begin. I didn't get much accomplished because my feet were so sore and my gym shoes were wayyyy to tight. I could barley lace them up!
It REALLY bothers me that he is ABLE to go to the gym and eat the healthy food (the smell of chicken/any meat cooking makes me GAG) while I am stuck being heavy, bloated and gross.
Couldn't he wait a few more weeks until I am ready to hit the gym again too?
On top of that he pretty much has no sympathy for me at all, in any aspect, way, shape or form.
He gets up before me and goes to bed after me - so I can't be more tired than he is.
He does physical labor all day long - so I couldn't possibly feel more run down or sore than he is.
He doesn't really understand why I am so emotional - because he looks at things 'rationally'.
Yes, sorry...this is more of a rant than a post. I'm just irritated that he thinks it's totally fine for him to be working out hardcore and getting in shape again while I am NOT ABLE TO. It's not FAIR :*(
